I'm currently finishing up University at Colorado State focusing in Cultural Anthropology and Global Environmental Sustainability. I have been taking pictures most of my life throughout the many strange experiences life brings. I've created this website to provide some imagery to my experience. These pictures are from this past summer spent traveling and working in Kenya with the majority of my time spent in Mombasa. All the pictures on this site have been taken by myself during my time there unless I am in them. I have included these anyway to provide additional insight. I have another website with additional photos from my life a link is included in the contact section. I hope these pictures help explain the beautiful culture I experienced while there.

The pictures I have taken throughout my lifetime help capture the moment and explain more than I am able to describe. I enjoy focusing on portraits or landscapes sometimes a combination of both. Many of my pictures seen here were taken at a spur of the moment. When traveling I try and carry my camera with me at all times hoping to catch a beautiful expression, sunset, or shadow. My camera has evolved to become a third limb especially in developing countries sometimes making a spotlight for a crowd or a thief. When abroad I try and avoid black and white photography, I feel the colors of a foreign country can help portray the culture within a photograph and Kenya can be a very bright and colorful country.
Many of my portrait photographs are done with my telephoto letting me take a personal photograph from far away. This way I wont have to ask or pay the individual which is expected in many situations. I feel that asking to take a photograph will often take away from the moment causing the individual to change expressions or posture in a way that looks unnatural. I often shoot hundreds of photos throughout a day, thousands throughout a trip, making the editing process very tedious. I go through my photos in Adobe Light room a program allowing me to make changes and arrange albums for a final product.
When people see my work I’d like them to picture the actual person. I try and focus on eyes in many of my portraits letting the viewer connect with the picture on a very personal basis. My experiences in were able to be life changing because of the people who were there. I hope my photos can help show these people and the community of Kenya in a way which words cannot.
